Lino Garcia’s stay in Chico has turned out to be a short one. After an impressive 2006 season, the Chico Outlaws outfielder is back in affiliated baseball. The Outlaws announced Monday that Garcia’s contract has been sold to the Colorado Rockies by the Golden Baseball League.

After 14 years, the booming bass voice behind “your Colorado Rrrrrrockies” is stepping away from the microphone. Alan Roach is leaving the Rockies to spend more time with his two kids — 8-year-old Katjana and 4-year-old D’Artagnan. Roach, a sports personality on KOA radio in Denver, will continue as an announcer at Colorado Avalanche games.

Kazuo Matsui impressed the Colorado Rockies last year with his speed and ability at the top of the batting order. The 31-year-old Matsui had just this third major league season in 2006. He was acquired from the New York Mets in June of last season but didn’t play a game for the big league club until Aug. 22, after spending time in Triple-A.
